PST and PGI have partnered to develop, certify and equip Jordanian trainers with the skills and materials they need to provide cyber-security skills and awareness training for staff in Jordan and the Middle East region, to address the growing global cyber skills gap and enable individuals and businesses to respond quickly and successfully to attacks.

The training is based on PGI’s training courses that have been certified by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, as well as the training methodology and infrastructure that PGI uses in its Cyber Academy in Bristol, UK.

PGI and PST’s partnership to bring cyber security training to Jordan entered a new phase today with the certification of PST trainers to deliver PGI’s UK Government Certified Cyber Security courses. The certificates were awarded to the trainers at a ceremony attended by Eng. Rula Ammuri, CEO of PST, Sebastian Madden, PGI’s Group Chief Corporate Development Officer, Wafa’ Nimri PGI’s Regional Director, as well as Olly Jones, PGI’s Executive Trainer who had conducted the trainer training.

Rula Ammuri said:

The certification marks a key milestone in PST’s strategic development into new markets and service areas. It is the culmination of several months of PST investment in human resources, and work to build PST’s capability and expertise in the domain of cyber security. PST has focused heavily on this domain in order to strengthen national security, contribute to the national strategy, and develop national cyber security capacity by developing and executing multi-sector cyber security training programmes and delivering cyber security services for the Jordanian market and the Middle East region.

By selecting PGI as our strategic partner, we have benefited from their experience of designing and delivering major cyber-security reskilling programmes in six Middle East countries, as well as access to the broader resources and expertise available through their academic and government partnerships in the UK, Europe, Middle East and South-East Asia. PGI’s commitment to capability transfer; as well as their emphasis on teaching core technical skills through experience and practice; the alignment of their courses to international standards and skills frameworks; and their tried and tested training infrastructure and methodologies make PGI’s approach ideally suited to the Jordanian market.

Presenting PGI’s certificates to the PST trainers, Sebastian Madden said:

It is now well-known that there are not enough professional cyber security staff in the world to do the work required. The latest estimates predict a shortfall of 2-3 million cyber security professionals. To respond successfully to attacks and protect their businesses and people, countries and companies need new cyber professionals to be trained and educated quickly and in large numbers to fill the gaps in the workforce.

PGI is delighted to have created an Anglo-Jordanian partnership with PST to do this. Jordan is well-placed to develop a large number of the skilled cyber security professionals that are required, thanks to its well-educated and talented university graduates.

Over 30,000 Jordanians graduate annually with IT degrees and Jordanians are recognised around the world for their technical skills and abilities – especially in the field of technical training and education. Reskilling young Jordanians as cyber security professionals will help them get good well-paid jobs in this fast-growing market, both here in Jordan, and around the world. Doing this requires high-quality trainers and effective training materials developed to international standards to be available here in Jordan. PST is a natural choice as PGI’s partner to provide the skilled trainers and deliver the training. PST has a very high reputation as a regional systems integrator and training provider, as well as a strong track record in government, critical infrastructure and financial services projects.

I congratulate our first Jordanian trainers on their successful completion of the trainer training course, and their certification as PGI Certified trainers, and look forward to working with them.
