PGI is delighted to announce that it has become an official Trusted Partner of the South West Cyber Resilience Centre (SWCRC) in order to better help businesses achieve cyber resilience.
As a private sector partner of SWCRC, PGI’s cyber security experts will be recommended to members if they would like to attain the Cyber Essentials certification or should they come up against a cyber security problem outside the scope of the CRC’s mandate.
PGI’s Director of Cyber Operations, Dr Meredith Patton is proud to be considered a Trusted Partner.
“Organisations of all sizes and types need to manage business risks to protect their operations and customers, and cyber security is just one element,” Dr Patton said.
“Not only are cybercriminals looking to steal money directly, which they often do via phishing or Business Email Compromise scams, but they are very much interested in sensitive data, such as customer information or IP because they can use this to make money indirectly.
“Many organisations, especially SMEs, often downplay the threat of cybercriminals because they aren’t sure why they would be a target; but sadly, every business, regardless of size and sector is a potential victim.
“Our team is comprised of experts from across the spectrum of cyber security, which means we can help organisations of all sizes with a holistic approach to managing cyber risks, including Incident Response, digital forensics and security testing, as well as achieving Cyber Essentials, GDPR, ISO 27001, NHS DSPT and PCI DSS,” Dr Patton said.
SWCRC is a not-for-profit policing-led partnership with the private sector and academia, and exists to help businesses and charities across the UK to protect themselves from cybercrime, a growing threat that around half of all businesses experienced in the last year.
It is part of a wider national network being established across England and Wales to provide businesses with an affordable level of support and access to trusted suppliers, like PGI.
Core Membership of the SWCRC is free and provides businesses with access to a range of resources and tools to help them identify their risks and vulnerabilities, as well as providing guidance on the steps they can take to increase their levels of protection.

As I waited for my flight to be rescheduled during last week’s IT outage, I listened to fellow passengers wonder aloud how a company whose name has never hit their radar could have such an impact on such a spectrum of day-to-day matters.
If you don’t know who Nara Smith is, I’m sorry to say you may just be living under a rock. Nara Smith has simply taken over my Instagram and TikTok feed with her ‘what I cooked for my husband today’, ‘what my toddlers ate today’ or my favourite video format, ‘my husband was craving [insert insane request] so I made it from scratch’.
Explaining how digital incidents severely impact the real world can be difficult, but we are increasingly seeing cyber incidents that illustrate how malicious actors can impact our daily lives.
