Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are important for the wellbeing, prosperity, and retention of PGI employees, particularly around the organisational value of different perspectives, protected beliefs, and philosophies. Creating this environment will in turn enhance PGI’s corporate value; operationally, financially, and culturally.

This policy sets out the objectives that guide DEI activities at PGI:

  • To foster an environment that celebrates people’s authentic selves and hopes to enhance the productive capability of the workforce so each employee can unlock their full potential.

  • To build a culture that attracts diversity.

  • To create opportunities, eliminate discrimination and unconscious bias, and reduce barriers for everyone.

  • To guide the development of standards, guidelines and procedures that encourage DEI within the workplace, including through training and awareness.

To meet these objectives, we are adopting the following principles:

Equity: We commit to ensuring that processes and opportunities within PGI are fair and impartial to remove barriers, eliminate discrimination, and safeguard equal opportunity and access for all.

Diversity: We aim to create a culture where differences are not just accepted but valued and leveraged to become assets.

Inclusivity: We will set out to ensure that all members of the PGI team feel welcome, safe and supported.

Transparency: We commit to communicating openly with our teams on our work toward equity and inclusion, and receiving and incorporating their feedback as our work continues.

Dynamism: We will set out to ensure that this policy does not become static; it will evolve as PGI and the wider population does.

This policy is in line with the Equality Act 2010 and considers all groups, including but not limited to:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender and gender reassignment

  • Marriage and civil partnerships

  • Parental rights

  • Race and ethnicity

  • Religion and belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation

  • Socio-economic backgrounds

We aim to achieve this by removing any potential discrimination in the way that our employees are treated by adopting a range of guidelines to ensure that we have a workforce that reflects the community it serves, and that staff are valued and respected. These include:

  • Implementing reasonable adjustments to mitigate physical and non-physical barriers in the workplace: PGI will endeavour to make the workplace, systems, and processes accessible to persons with disability to ensure inclusive participation.

  • Facilitating diversity awareness training and resources: Training will be provided during the onboarding processes and throughout the year. Resources are also available to help all staff understand and adhere to this policy.

  • Fostering dignity at work: PGI aims to provide a working environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, free from inappropriate behaviour and one in which all employees can give their best. It is about creating and sustaining a productive working environment for all staff where discrimination or harassment does not occur and is known to be unacceptable.

This policy applies to all employees and employment policies and practices, including those relating to:

  • Recruitment and selection, onboarding, including promotion and career progression.

  • Terms and conditions of employment and work statements with contractors.

  • Working environment.

  • Training and development.

  • Redundancy and redeployment.

PGI is committed to the Equality Act 2010 and believes that in a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace, everybody wins. By hiring and cultivating a DEI aware workforce, we can uphold values that enable every member of the team to thrive.
