The South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit has signed up to be a part of this year’s Let’s Talk Cyber 2016 event due to be held at the PGI Cyber Academy in Bristol on October 27.
Cyber Crime Cost UK Business £147 billion last year
Approximately 1.8 million UK businesses have reportedly been victims of a cyber-attack, costing the UK economy more than £147 billion in the last year alone. The vast majority of businesses affected are small businesses comprising 249 employees or less.
With stats consistently showing that the cyber threat is continuing to grow, SMEs need to take the issue seriously and take steps to counter it. Let’s Talk Cyber 2016 aims to educate and raise awareness of the issue.
With cybercrime a major issue for SMEs the event will be of interest to the region’s businesses. The South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit will be giving a presentation on Cyber Crime which is sure to be illuminating and perhaps a bit of a wakeup call for attendees.
